Using
Your Gifts
“We
all start with gifts. The merit comes from what we make of them.”
Jean
Toomer
Here's
a question for you: What are your gifts? Does your mind go blank when
you ask? What is easy for you? What is something that comes naturally
to you without the slightest stress or strain. What is so native, so
intuitive that you don't even think about it, but take it for
granted?
Perhaps
it is your voice—it's melodious, able to stay on key, or move
people with its depth and timber. Maybe it is your capable
hands; easily able to make things, repair what is broken, or soothe. It could be that physical strength is your
gift. Anyone can see the difference between a natural athlete, and
one who works hard to be technically correct. Perhaps you have an
uncommon grace of movement. Some people have a natural ability to
envision creatively—to see within how to arrange and organize into
a pleasing whole. Possibly, you have clarity of thought, and are able
to explain difficult concepts in an unusually understandable way.
We
all have gifts. Inborn, inherent qualities that can translate into
action if we so desire. So here's another question: How are you using
the gifts given you? Do they benefit you? Do they benefit the world?
Gifts are given, not earned, and they are meant to be shared.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
