Cosmic Transformation

God Questions

“Where is God in all of this?”

Caroline Myss

I just listened to Caroline’s latest video message, “We are each other’s caregivers.” In it she speaks to the cosmic goings on of this moment—the pandemic, the fires, the storms, and floods. About the political unrest and social upheaval. She points out the questions we ask about God’s intervention, such as, “How can a benevolent God allow this to happen?” What we seem to leave out is ourselves as co-creators. She calls such supplications the prayers of the archetypal child within each of us—the one who wants a super-hero god to swoop down and right the wrongs of our current situation. Of course, divine energy doesn’t work that way.

The only solution to this is to weave ourselves back into the whole of life and understand that the whole of life—with all its crises and joys—is woven into us. We are part of, not somehow separate from, all that is happening within and around us. Myss calls this “an era of transformation” and not something that is simply happening in this moment. We have been building toward this current state for a long time. And furthermore, the crises that we are facing cannot be solved as individuals but require all of us working together.

She speaks about the role of prayer in this era of transformation. That our supplications should not be for external intervention, but for internal strength and surefootedness. Our prayers must be to fortify ourselves; to enable us to face the difficulties our choices have created without becoming part of the darkness ourselves. Our prayers might sound less like, “Help me get out of this,” and more like, “Protect me from my own rage,” or “Give me the grace to see the truth here,” or, “Don’t let my arrogance lead me into darkness.” In other words, our prayers should form a firewall between us and all the lies and misinformation that are spewing all around us and within us.

As co-creators, we are responsible for the choices we make that impact our lives and the lives of others. What we see right now is the result of past choices. What our future will look like depends upon the choices we make today and going forward. Withdrawing from the temptation to place blame is step one. Step two, understanding the urgent need for each of us to consider all of us in our decision making. Not just the human world, certainly not just ourselves, but the entirety of creation. Angels are here to guide us—that is their job—but we are the ones who must choose.

Here is a prayer for today: “Thank you for my life, and for being born into this time. Help me to see the truth of whatever situations confront me today and guide my choices.” Then grab your angel’s hand and go!

                                                  In the Spirit,
