Wounded Souls

Brotherly Love

We have flown the air like birds and swum the sea like fishes, but have yet to learn the simple act of walking the earth like brothers.”
Martin Luther King, Jr.

I simply have no words for this week—only heartbreak and dismay. Between the random shooting of African American people at a Kroger Store in Kentucky, to bombs mailed to Democrats around the country, to murder in a synagogue in Pennsylvania—this has been a hate-filled week in America. We all need to spend this day, this sabbath, taking stock and deciding how we want to proceed. Will we find it in our hearts to love one another, or continue hating anyone who disagrees with us? Let us spend this day praying and pondering and deciding what we, as individuals, can bring to this conversation that will help heal our national soul.
