“I shall
allow no man to belittle my soul by making me hate him.”
Booker T.
Washington
There are several
poisonous emotions. Resentment, jealousy, envy, prejudice, pride,
just to name a few. There is no more toxic emotion than hatred.
You've seen the commercial on TV in which someone coughs, and a
purple cloud billows out of their mouth, washing over everyone around
them. Well, hatred is like that, only the cloud is a putrid green. It
comes from a noxious place and it infects everyone in its path.
Emotions that are founded
in fear—those I've listed above, and others, such as bitterness,
greed and pessimism, are not only dangerous for the person(s) they
are directed toward, they also erode the health and well-being of the
one who feels them. They are toxic on all levels. Energetically, they
are seated in the body's trunk—heart, belly, lower abdomen. They
create diseases and disorders there—peptic ulcers, indigestion,
intestinal and colon dysfunctions, reproductive problems, and heart
disease. The cure for hatred-based
diseases is often not medicine, but forgiveness.
If we want to lower the
level of hostility in our environment, we can begin with our own
heart. Here are a few good questions: Is there someone I need to forgive? Is there a way to honor
the fear but not let it “belittle my soul” with it's poison? Is
there a way to lay it down and never pick it up again? If so, this is
a good time to do it. We can add positive energy to the world's soul
by unburdening our own soul of anything based in fear.
In the Spirit,
Jane
