It's
a Matter of Perspective
“Even
the smallest shift in perspective can bring about the greatest
healing.”
Joshua
Kai (The Quantum Prayer)
Perspective
is everything. Perspective determines the quality of a day, or of a
lifetime. When we look around and see only what is wrong with us and
with the world, we adopt a perspective that is guaranteed to cause
cynicism and discontent. Our dissatisfaction adds to the world's
negativity and grieves us terribly.
When
we make a small adjustment to that perspective, and see that many
things are wrong, but some things are going very well, we notice a
shift in how we feel. When we take the long view, and see that no one
is perfect, and while there is upheaval in the world at this time
because it is in transition, this too will pass, we feel hopeful.
With hope comes the unmistakable first flame of optimism. And, when
we ask ourselves the question, “How can I be part of the solution?”
we become energized and motivated. As my mother would say, “We put
on our thinking-caps,” and go to work to make a difference.
Notice
that nothing has actually changed with the world, the change is all
within. Which would make for a better day—the cynicism, or the
optimism? Which would make for a better life—being part of the
problem, or being part of the solution? What is your perspective
today?
In
the Spirit,
Jane
