How's your auric field today?

Real Healing

It's when we start working together that the real healing takes place...”
David Hume

Have you ever been healed? If you have, you know the power of friendship in the process. You may also know the power of prayer. I won't pretend to know how prayer works, but I do know that there is a connection between prayer and healing. I believe it to be the power of love.

If we need scientific evidence to believe in the efficacy of prayer in healing, we might start with research in the field of Kirlian photography. It started out innocently enough, looking at the auric field around plants. The field clearly changed when the plant was cut, or threatened with being cut, and when the plant was cared for and appreciated. So the research moved on to human beings. When we are frightened, our field draws close our bodies like armor, as if to protect us from harm. When we are in love, our auric field expands, extends outward from our bodies significantly and becomes rosy. This happens especially when we touch the ones we love. When we meditate or pray, the field does much the same as when we are in love—it grows larger and extends to those around us. It has a calming effect. We feel our heart energy opening and expanding.

Last week, Pope Francis repeatedly asked people to pray for him. And he prayed for others. As a charismatic, his auric field is larger than most to begin with, and all the love he received and gave greatly expanded it. When he came close to people, or touched them, they felt it. Senator Chuck Schumer, who is not Catholic, told CNN his “hair was standing on end” when he met the Pope. I think Pope Francis repeatedly asked for prayer because he wants us to pray more, love more, expand our auric field with that love, and touch one another. If all of us were to follow his request, we might just heal ourselves and our world. I believe in miracles, don't you?
