Unsettled
Life
“I
live quite an unsettled life.”
Joely
Richardson
Isn't
it a fact that life moves to unsettle us just when we're getting
comfortable? I've noticed this to be true for me. Something out
there, or actually, in here, doesn't want me to rest on my laurels
for very long. There exists a mercurial element, like a band of
mischievous imps. Just when we think we've got things figured out,
they come along and turn our tables upside down.
I
think of these sprites as the “Inner Council.” They meet and make
decisions. They decide we aren't making progress as long as we're
sitting on our spiritual behinds feeling confident about our place in
the universe. Together they conjure up some irritating situation,
some slight or grand challenge to be dealt with just to get us up and
moving again. I can almost hear them chatting among themselves,
“She's feeling a little too proud of herself; let's deal her the
humility card.” Then, Bam!, they flip your switches.
Somehow,
this is the time of year for such clandestine meetings of the gods. I
think they're bored with winter, and stirring up the winds of change just to amuse themselves.
“Let the pollen roll," they say, "and along with the unsettled weather, let's
tip that smug apple cart!” I wonder whether you feel the unsettled
nature of Spring. Things are stirring inside and out.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
