Soul
Meetings
“Really
important meetings are planned by the souls long before the bodies
see each other...Generally speaking, these meetings occur when we
reach a limit, when we need to die emotionally. These meetings are
waiting for us, but more often than not, we avoid them happening. If
we are desperate, though, if we have nothing to lose, or if we are
full of enthusiasm for life, then the unknown reveals itself, and our
universe changes directions.”
Pablo
Coelho (Eleven Minutes)
We
humans are a piece of work, aren't we? We hang on, and resist, and
deny, and bend the hoop until it snaps to prevent whatever comes next
from happening. We hate to admit that we don't know what's
best, that we can't control outcome, and that we are not in charge of
anything. We are like rat terriers; we'd rather have our teeth pulled
out than let go and allow the hand of inevitability to win.
Usually, we only loosen our grip when we hit our limit, and the muscles of will-power fail us.
The
irony lies in its futility. Always and ever, change is the order of
the day. We can go with the flow, or fling ourselves into its middle
like a bolder in a creek in our effort to stem the tide. Either way,
change will come over and around us, transforming us into what comes
next. Human institutions—whether nations or corporations, religions
or boards of directors, families or friendships—are living
entities, and all will change. If we can allow and even embrace that
change, if we can let life have its way, “the unknown will reveal
itself, and our universe will change directions,” maybe even for
the better. Today, let's live with loose hands and open souls.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
