Imperceptible
Power
“To
hear never-heard sounds.
To
see never-seen colors and shapes
To
try to understand the imperceptible
Power
pervading the world...”
Dejan
Stojanovic
There
is something about autumn that brings out the poetry of life. I
always find myself distracted by the colors, shades and shapes of
leaves as they change. I try to open my eyes wider, so that I can
take more in, not miss anything. Day-to-day everything changes so
fast, if you blink, you might miss something breathtaking.
Images
from the day of the Dalai Lama's visit to Birmingham, are just
beginning to resonate through my mind. The sight of monks in their
red and saffron robes, walking around Railroad Park chomping on
burritos. The protesters, both in support of and against the Dalai
Lama, dancing to drums and chanting. So colorful and bright, not
unlike the autumn leaves. The sight of His Holiness placing Tibetan
prayer shawls around the necks of each participant, addressing
Birmingham's mayor, William Bell, as Lord Mayor, and holding his hand
through much of the afternoon's presentation. The peacefulness of the
crowd of thousands sitting in the blazing sun without a single
complaint. The contrast of the Secret Service men in their black
suits and dark glasses, looking like pieces to the wrong puzzle
somehow dropped there by mistake.
The
world is so strange, isn't it? How both beauty and peace, anger and
hatred can all exist side-by-side, and even within the same person.
What a weird creation we are; with the constant changes of mood, and
minute-by-minute choices we make. How is it that we can look at the
beautiful colors of autumn and think angry thoughts? That shape, that
color, a miracle before our very eyes, a blessing straight from the
Creator.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
