"Keep your eyes on the river of light."

Act with Goodness
“You think now about all the good you can do. This is no time to ever again think of yourself as helpless. When you look at this moment of chaos, you start empowering yourself in the smallest degree. Every act of goodness now matters more than you ever thought it mattered before. You turn yourself into an active agent of change, because now it matters.”
Caroline Myss (Facebook video post)

In the Gospel of Mark, (3:25) Jesus says, “And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.” For the past week, since the murder of George Floyd, we have witnessed a house divided against itself. And our president has done everything in his power to fan those flames. Walking to the church (St. John’s) across Lafayette Square—where Lincoln prayed for peace during the Civil War—and holding up a Bible as though that made his having just tear-gassed and flash-banged American citizens exorcising their first amendment rights okay, was an obscenity of amazing proportions, even for this president who daily offends the sensibilities of thinking people. It was gratifying to hear the parish Priest, and the presiding Bishop, and even the Pope condemn such a brazen and autocratic act. I hope the people of this country and the people of the world see this and know that there was nothing holy in that moment.
This is not the time to turn a blind eye to either the desperation of black Americans, or the basic guiding principles of this country. We have endured almost four years of constant lies, we are languishing in a pandemic that has killed 106,000 of our people, and all our president can do is rant about how he is the supreme leader who will call in our all-powerful military to prevail against the citizens of this country. It is time to stand in own power and make certain that this is a time of change. We must decide whom to follow—the Prince of Peace, or the Prince of Darkness. In the gospel of John (8:44), Jesus explains that Satan is the father of all lies—that should shake the foundations of religious people everywhere who support Trump. We have never had a president who straight-up lies more than this one.
Please, do not assume that you can do nothing to change this terrible time we are in. You can pray with all your heart, mind, and spirit, and you can raise your voice in support of our most cherished rights. You can support the people who have been violated time and again, in their quest for freedom from tyranny. And you can vote. Please stand up and exercise your rights. In the words of Caroline Myss, “Don’t fall for lies. Go for the highest creed. All human beings want the same things you do.” Peace, freedom, and safety.
                                                  In the Spirit,
                                                  Jane
