Truth-Telling
“I am so
hungry for truth telling, for heart-warming displays of humanity, for
news and rituals that lift me up...”
Jan

In this posting of
Bulletins from Immortality, which my friend Annette graciously sent
me, Jan Phillips spoke for me when she wrote how hungry she is for
truth-telling and displays of humanity. It hadn't really occurred to
me before that all this deceit is a form of abuse and what Fritz
Pearl referred to as “mind-[screwing.]” We have become so
accustomed to being told lies and half-truths that we resemble people
clawing our way through a desert, parched through, not knowing what
is and what isn't true—and unfortunately, that is the point of it.
I hate to think that our leaders are doing this, but I have seen it
with my own eyes and heard it with my own ears. Mystifying and
mind-boggling—how did we get here? But, let's not lose hope.
There is something we can
do to help bring balance. We can tell the truth. We can be the
tellers of truth as far as it concerns our own lives. When there is
an atmosphere of dishonesty constantly swirling about us, it becomes
easier for us to join in and add our own deceits. Let's
challenge ourselves not to submit to that energy. Anyone can make up
their own set of “facts,” but honesty and trustworthiness are
attributes that must be practiced. In a spiritual practice, coming
clean is part of the process—a baptism of sorts—a turning around.
We need enough people in the world to turn around to swing the
balance back to truth-telling. I will commit myself to telling the
truth as I know it. I hope you will join me.
In the Spirit,
Jane
