Affirmations
“I now release all people, places, things, experiences and conditions which are not part of the divine pattern of my life. All people, places, things, experiences and conditions, which are not part of the divine pattern of my life, release me…”

Some twenty years ago, I was going through a rough time in my life. I was drowning in a sea of negativity and self-doubt, as though nothing I had done or ever would do was worth a darn. Someone introduced me to affirmations. It was a way of turning the negative thoughts that were oppressing me into positive statements of faith. The recommendation was that I come up with at least three positive statements about the negative conditions I wanted to change and commit to saying them aloud to myself several times each day. If I was inclined to forget to do this, I should write out the statements and tape them up where I couldn’t miss them.
The two affirmations above are ‘letting go’ statements for anyone who may be holding on to a person or situation that is draining their energy and creating negativity within them. These could be followed by another statement such as, “I now attract all people, places, things, experiences and conditions that are part of the divine pattern of my life…(and, I am now attracted to all…).” Repeating an affirmation and being consistent and clear is one way to make internal changes. It is, in a way, reprogramming the brain to entertain the positive rather than the negative energies of life. What happened in my own life was that I began to notice synchronistic happenings—positive people, places, things, experiences—presented themselves seemingly out of nowhere. The theory behind this is that we attract to ourselves the same kind of energy that we put out. If I, for example, put out negative, hostile energy, I attract to myself negative, hostile people and experiences. And vice versa—if my energy output is positive, that is what I attract to myself.
If you want to change a situation that is troubling you, affirmations can help. But they can’t be ambivalent and you must put the strength of your convictions behind them; you must be willing to let go of anything within you that stands in the way of change. Once you are clear and certain, the whole universe lines up behind you to make it happen.
In the affirmative,
Jane
