You
Are the World
“Remember
you are the universe, and the universe is you.”

This morning I read that the Hubble Space Telescope
is no longer operational. As one who has savored the images coming from Hubble,
I feel sad about that. Thirty years is a long time, I suppose, to be sitting
out in space snapping photos, but I wanted more. NASA is readying a new, more
powerful telescope to launch, hopefully, by the end of this year, but the Hubble
was kind of like the USS Enterprise to me. The first, and one of a kind.

Harjo reminds us that there is nothing out there that is not in here. We are a
microcosm of the macrocosm. Which means of course, that we are made of the same
things; we are like one of Hubble’s snapshots. Each human body is a galaxy of
its own, unique, and yet, familiar. Some of us are gaseous, and some are as
salty as any sea. Some of us are burning hot, and some are cold as ice. Some of
us are full of light and some we cannot see because they are filled with dark
matter. Some of us have black holes inside us that suck others in and some of
us have glowing moons circling around us, drawn by the gravity of our animal
magnetism. Some of us are full of life, and some are as inert as a rock. All of
us are made from stardust and we shine with our own colors. All of us are
precious.
I hope
today finds your galaxy in full array and turning slowly in this golden
universe. Shine on!
In
the Spirit,
Jane
