Welcome to the Kingdom!

Miracles

“There is no need to be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased God to give you the kingdom.” Jesus (Luke 12: 32)

“When we are truly alive, we can see that the tree is part of heaven, and we are also a part of heaven. The whole universe is conspiring to reveal this to us...The miracle is not to walk on water. The miracle is to walk on the green Earth in the present moment, and appreciate the peace and beauty that are available now.” Thich Nhat Hanh

The miracle of spring is upon us with all its glorious color and welcome sun. We walk out into it, appreciative of the beauty and sheer energy that we feel mirrored in us. Easter is over. Ordinary time resumes. Will we carry the light of resurrection, of joyous springtime into our everyday life?

I have found that it helps to go outside and spend time in nature at least once a day. Look up into the trees and say, “You are part of heaven, and I am part of heaven, too.” Listen to the birdsong, and understand that these—these trees, these birds, these squirrels, these barking dogs and feral cats, even these wild coyotes—are brothers and sisters who share most of your DNA. Isn't it interesting that more people than ever are swabbing their cheeks and sending their DNA off to assess their human ancestry? Look outside—those are your significant others!

The miracle of life is all around us this spring. Having five senses to experience this beautiful moment is a miracle. Having a body/mind that allows us to feel everything—joy, loathing, sadness, love, longing, curiosity, disgust—is a miracle of nature. Everything in the cosmos is related, yet each has a unique role to play. We human beings are neither greater nor lesser than any other part; we too have a purpose. We are here to further consciousness, to explore, to name, to explain, to push the envelope of knowledge and understanding. We are an essential piece of this miracle of life. Who else can weep with joy, or create music and dance in jubilation? Who else can penetrate the depths of the oceans and explore the furthest star? Keep the faith, little flock! It has pleased the Creator to make you—yes, even you—part of heaven.

In the Spirit,
Jane
