“Day
to Feel Alive”
“I've
been a poor man and I've been a king.
I've
had my life and the world on a string.
I've
traveled many roads, but I'm so far from done.
I
have been hopeless, and I've had my faith.
Some
things I've lost, and some things I have saved.
All
of these moments showed me the way I have gone.
Good
to know there's so much to live for...”

“Day
to Feel Alive”-recorded by Jake Reese
I
love this pop song. It goes with the season of Spring. For me, it
expresses the realization that life can be good no matter what road
we've taken. The last stanza is:
“I've
made some wrong turns, I've made some mistakes.
I've
broken some promises back in the day.
But,
I've got the feeling I'm ready to leave it behind, oh
Good
to know there's so much to live for.”
This
is how Spring makes us feel, isn't it—just glad to be alive. You
can be in the worst mood in the world, but when you walk out your
door into the shining sun, the world has come alive. It's in fragrant
bloom, accompanied by a chorus of birdsong. It's impossible not to
feel there's so much to live for.
Looking
at life in hindsight can be daunting. It's easy to heap guilt on
ourselves for all the mistakes we've made, all the promises we've
broken, and people we've hurt along the way—speaking for myself, of
course. We should make amends where amends are due. But we should
also forgive ourselves, appreciate the lessons we've learned and the
people who taught us those lessons. Nobody has a perfect life.
Spring
is a good time to lay down that burden of guilt. If there's animosity
you're carrying, the only person it's hurting is you, so be willing
to let it go. There's simply too much to live for.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
