Unpredictable
Life
“Life
is unpredictable and usually never goes the way we plan it or would
like it to go, but we have it, and with life anything is possible.”

January
is an tricky month for me. I always try to see ahead and plan for
every possibility, and I always fall far from the mark. This year, I
did not do what I have done in the past—run my credit card bills up
buying Christmas presents. I thought that by being conservative and
paying for gifts at the time I bought them, I would not end up in
January scrambling to pay off credit cards. And it worked! I don't
have high credit card bills! Instead, I received the quarterly
statement for my homeowner's Insurance and my car insurance bills in
one fell swoop! Bang! It's always something! Sometimes, I feel like
The Joker is in charge of my life.
You
know, we humans are strange animals. We get bored if a book we're
reading, or a movie we're watching is predictable, but we we expect
life, with all its variables, to be. Like that old poem, “Invictus”
by William Ernest Henley, we want to believe, “I am the master of
my fate. I am the captain of my soul.” All I can say is, don't let
Spirit hear you say that. She'll throw a wrench in your works in a
nano-second.
Fact
is, only a few things in life are predictable...taxes...death...and
we don't like either one of those, so let's get with the program.
Let's learn to be light on our feet, so we can dodge and weave, and
be ready for all possibilities. Life is unpredictable, and truth be
told, we wouldn't have it any other way.
In
the Spirit,
Jane
