Anticipation
“An intense anticipation itself transforms possibility into reality, our desires being often but precursors of the things which we are capable of performing.”
Samuel Smiles
“Bur if we learn to think of it as anticipation, as learning, as growing; if we think of the time we spend waiting for the big things of life as an opportunity instead of a passing of time, what wonderful horizons open out!”
Anna Neagle
You can tell that I am optimistic this morning. It’s a beautiful fall morning, the sun is not yet up, but it’s going to be a cool (thank God), clear and fabulous day. Ian and I have worked all week to get ready for the BIG Yard Sale, and we have hundreds of must-have items unpacked and ready. We were still pricing at last night—until my feet said, “Enough!”
Anticipation is a wonderful thing, an optimistic and powerful emotion that can, indeed, transform reality. We anticipate, either positively or negatively, and create the energy to fulfill our expectations. In other words, we draw it to us. If we anticipate failure, then failure will surely find us; and if we anticipate success, we will exude a positive energy that enables us to define what we do as successful no matter what happens.
I don’t know whether Ian will make money today or not, but he will surely meet people and make connections and network for future business. As for myself, I look forward to seeing the assortment of characters and hearing that deep southern drawl, which even after thirty years in Alabama , I cannot do properly. People always say, “You’re not from around here, are you?” And I happily reply, “No, darlin’, I’m from North Carolina .” Feel my pride?
I hope your Saturday is great—it’s college football game-day, y’all. Roll Tide! But not until after we’ve sold all this junk, please.
Pumping it up,
Jane
P.S. My sincerest thanks to all of you who have commented on this blog. Just when I question why I’m writing it everyday, I get an email or a phone call telling me that something touched your heart, or made you think, or reminded you of someone special. You’ll never know how much that means to me. Please, let me know what you like and what you don’t like. It keeps me getting up early even when I don’t have a yard-sale.
